April Ross

April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball athletes to win medals more than once at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside Ross at Tokyo for her third gold medal over the coming days. Ross aims to earn her Olympic first gold medal however, she also hopes to win even more. In fact, at 39, it could be her final chance to achieve it. The athlete is optimistic she will be able to win top awards. Ross on NBC Boston, said that when the team performs consistently or well they could win a gold. Also, it's the result of luck. Ross was born the 22nd, 1982 in Costa Mesa California. She lived there along with her entire family. In addition to competing in various sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball, as well as basketball as well as running and track. When she played in the final sport she stood out. According to her bio, she played a middle blocker and an outside hitting volleyball player during her senior year at high school. The award was presented to her as one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999, for her performance. Additionally, in 2000, she was recognized as the Orange County Athlete of the Yr for volleyball. Ross and Klineman might be working on a project in 2017, but Ross was already an established athlete at the beach prior to when they joined forces. The fact is, she's had numerous big wins and one of them was an all-star volleyball player. Between 2007 and 2013, she was partnered with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Along with Kessy Ross was awarded a World Title in 2009 when she competed on the international circuit. The duo eventually captured a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team and Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement when she retired. They both went on to take home the bronze beach volleyball trophy at Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a Trojans player for the USC during her college days, prior to becoming a professional. Ross's time in the Trojans was remarkable. In 2000, she was named Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year. She was also named an All-American. The Trojans had the chance to reach the Final Four with her help. In her sophomore season, she experienced a terrible personal tragedy, but was able to be named an All-American. During her final two seasons in the Trojans in the program they won victory by winning consecutive national championships. The achievements of each individual have established her status as a legend in volleyball. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the chance to watch her daughter grow into a beach volleyball superstar. Ross's mother died of breast carcinoma in the year 2001. Ross had just become an undergraduate student in the second year at USC. But she still keeps her parent close to heart.
