April Ross

April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball players who have earned medals at least twice in an Olympics. In Tokyo over the next several days, she'll try to win her third gold medal along with the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross hopes to win more than her initial Olympic medal. With her age of 39, this may be her last opportunity to claim the gold medal at an Olympics. But she's still confident of achieving top honours. Ross said on NBC Boston: "If we try our best, and even If we play our best I'm sure we'll get the gold medal." Additionally, I'm going be relying on a little bit of good luck. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a sister. Apart from playing in numerous sport, she also attended Newport Harbor High School. As a pre-schooler she played indoor volleyball along with basketball and track. In the last sport she stood out. In her time at high school, she played middle blocker, outside setter and hitter at the tennis court as per her bio at the college. The results of her efforts were acknowledged when she was named 1999 Gatorade's National Circle of Champions players of the year. Her skills in volleyball won her the Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in the year 2000. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play in the year 2017. But, Ross played a significant role on the beach volleyball circuit prior to the pair. It's true that she has won numerous tournaments, including one with the legendary player of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 until 2013. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who took home the title of world champion alongside Kessy in 2009 was also a major force on world stage. The duo took silver in London's Olympics. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the trio to beat for the gold. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. The pair took bronze at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross began her collegiate professional career playing for the Trojans of USC in graduation from high school. The Trojans were a few years away from when Ross went to the beach, and then became a professional. Ross had an impressive run during her time in college. In 2000 she was voted Pac-10 Freshman and NCAA Freshman of the Year, and was also an All-American. She was also one of the key players to help the Trojans make their way to the Final Four. She was devastated by a personal tragedy during her second year, but she managed to become an All-American in her second year. Over the course of her final two seasons, she took the Trojans up the mountain and clinched consecutive national championships. The individual accomplishments of her have established her status as a legend in volleyball. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross, an USC international relations major, was a volleyball star. Sadly, Ross mother Margie did not get to see her daughter ascend to the very top of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross's mother passed away from breast cancer while she was in her sophomore year at USC. This meant that Ross continues to be near to her mother who passed away. Margie is an inspiration on and off of the shore.
