April Ross

April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball stars who won medals at more than one Olympics. In Tokyo in the coming days she will attempt to net her third medal along with first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross is also hoping to win her very first Olympic medal. With her age of 39, this may be her final opportunity to claim an Olympic gold. She remains optimistic that she'll be successful in achieving top honours. Ross said on NBC Boston: "If we try our best, and even If we play our best, I think we could get the gold medal." Additionally, I'm going put my faith in a touch of luck. Ross was born on the 22, 1982, located in Costa Mesa California. She lived there with her family. While at Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous sports. As a pre-schooler she was a participant in indoor volleyball along with basketball and track. In the last sport she stood out. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker outside hitter and setter in the court for volleyball as per her bio at the college. Her efforts were recognized by her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Players of the Year. The year 2000 was the time she won the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are doing what they do in 2017. However, Ross was an important player in the beach volleyball scene before the pairing. She has been able to win multiple events, and one was won by a legendary volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years from 2007 until the year 2013. She also coached Klineman and herself. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who was the winner of the world championship together with Kessy in 2009, was also an important player on the world stage. In 2012, the pair were awarded silver medals at the London Olympics. They were knocked out of the gold medal by the legendary team comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. They went on to compete for the bronze beach volleyball medal at the Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. Ross began her college professional career playing for the Trojans of USC in her high school days. The Trojans were a few years away from when Ross hit the beach, and then became a professional. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was remarkable. In 2000, she was named Pac-10 Freshman and NCAA Freshman Of The Year, and was also an All-American. In addition, she helped her Trojans to make it to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she experienced a devastating personal setback but managed to make it back as an All-American. The last two years as a member of the Trojans in the program they won success by winning two successive national titles. As an individual Ross established her status in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the best female volleyball players at colleges across the United States. Ross, an USC international relations student, was a volleyball star. Margie Ross didn't get to see Ross reach beach volleyball's highest stage. Ross lost her mom to cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. However, she continues to keep her mother's memory close and close. Margie has been an inspiration throughout her life, as well as on the beaches.
