April Ross
April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball athletes who have won medals in more than one Olympics. Alix-Klineman will be competing with April Ross Tokyo in order to claim her third gold in the next few days. Ross hopes to win her Olympic the first medal of gold, but she is also aiming for greater. This may be the last time she has the chance at age 39. However, she's convinced that top prizes can be achieved. Ross declared on NBC Boston: "If we perform our best and playing well I believe we can be able to win gold." In addition, I'm planning to rely on a bit of luck. Ross was born in California in Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area with her mother, father and sister. The athletic pursuits she pursued was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of sports. When she was a student in the prep school she was a participant in the indoor game of volleyball, as well as basketball as well as running track. In the last sport she was clearly the standout. As a high school volleyball career as per her college profile, she played as an outside-hitter, middle-blocker and setter. She was awarded the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. In 2000, she was awarded her the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross Klineman and Ross may have begun working together in the year 2017, however Ross had already been a seasoned athlete at the beach prior to when they came together. In fact, she won numerous major events using two partners, one of whom is the volleyball legend. The pair teamed along with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's coach. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be strong on the world circuit, winning the 2009 World Championship as a team. The duo eventually captured an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were beaten out for the gold medal by the legendary group comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. They both went on to take home the bronze beach volleyball medal at the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a college athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning her pro career. She was a player in high school, and even years prior to hitting the beaches as a professional. Her career was a success during her time in the college. As a freshmen in 2000 Her performance was rewarded with the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman-of-the-Year honors. She was also one of the key players to help the Trojans make it to the Final Four. After her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal loss and still earned the distinction of being an All-American. In her last two years, she took the Trojans to the top of the mountain and won consecutive national titles. She was a fantastic player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross majored in International Relations at USC. Unfortunately, Ross mother Margie never got to see Ross's daughter reach the very top of beach volleyball stardom. Ross's mom Margie passed away in 2001. Ross was still a USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. She still holds her mother very dearly. Margie is a source of inspiration, both off and on of the beach.
