Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She co-founded The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist, television host and the owner of The Huffington Post. After moving into England from Greece at 16, she received a MA with a major in Economics from Cambridge University. As the first non-English speaking student, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. In the years following her graduation, she was an influential conservative syndicated journalist. A few more years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critiques of the current political landscape. The fame of Arianna has helped attract a number of famous contributors. Arianna's popularity started in 2003, after she was a candidate for an independent in the California recall vote in order to replace Governor Davis. Additionally, she was involved in an initiative in Detroit that promoted fuel-efficient automobiles. In 2009, she was ranked by Forbes as the most influential women in media gaining 12th position on their list and in the same year the Guardian listed her on the top 100 media list. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her head of its media division, which also included additional AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. She was very close with her father, but it was her bond with her mother who shaped her. When she was a teen she displayed leadership qualities which she is still renowned for. When she was 16 years old, she moved over to the United Kingdom for her higher education.
