April Ross

April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball players who have won medals during multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian and is set to join the team in Tokyo. Ross also hopes to get her very first Olympic medal. The next time she has the chance to do so at the age of 39. Still confident, however. If we do our highest or do well, I believe we can get that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. So I'm going to take some luck too. Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. She grew up in Costa Mesa with her mother, father and sibling. She was able to participate in many sports at Newport Harbor High School. She was a basketball player and also ran track, in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements in her time as a college athlete. She was definitely a cut above the rest in the latter sport. Based on her biography, she was a middle blocker and an outside hitter on the volleyball court during her senior year at high school. The award was presented to her as one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in 2000. Ross is currently playing with Klineman since 2017. However, Ross's beach game was established well before this. It's true that she has won numerous events, and one was won by an iconic volleyball player. For six years from 2007 until 2013, she was a team together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who was the winner of the world championship alongside Kessy in 2009, also was an important player on the international stage. They won a Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team and Kerri Jennings won the gold. The fate of the matter was that Ross was Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. In 2016, the duo won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross started her college professional career playing for the Trojans of USC in high school. It was a long time before Ross hit the beach and became a professional. This was an impressive career for Ross in the university. In 2000, as a freshman the Trojans' performance earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA the Freshman of the Year award. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans get to into the Final Four. She endured a great personal loss in her sophomore, yet was able to achieve the All-American award. Over her final two years in the program she led the Trojans towards the summit by winning two three consecutive championships at the national level. Individually she had cemented her place as a legend by winning the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the highest ranked female volleyball player. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross did not get to watch her daughter's climb to the beach volleyball spotlight. When Ross was in her sophomore year studying at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. However, she keeps her parents close to her his heart. Margie at the beach as well as in her everyday life, inspires her.
