Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football with community service. He is the youngest child of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon. They took care of him at the farm they owned in Eufala. The second football was that he is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. All three made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey was one of the starters for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award as the top lineman in America. For the three seasons that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975. He was also selected as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned a degree in education. Fourth year of college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. He moved to Tampa after college, was a member of the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-times all-pro. His business career began. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relations Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's 10 outstanding young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs during his time playing college football. The year 1975 was the first time he was on the team. group. In 1993, Roy was a part of the University of South Florida's sports department as Director of Athletics as an associate. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame by The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
